The Sherpa Community
The Sherpa people are one of Nepal's most renowned ethnic groups, famous worldwide for their mountaineering expertise and warm hospitality. They inhabit the high-altitude regions of the Khumbu Valley in eastern Nepal, near Mount Everest. Their Tibetan Buddhist culture, resilient spirit, and deep knowledge of the mountains have made them legendary.

Sherpa culture is deeply rooted in Tibetan Buddhism, with every village featuring a gompa (monastery) and prayer flag-draped landscapes. They are known for their exceptional mountaineering skills, passed down through generations. Sherpa hospitality is legendary — guests are welcomed with "Tashi Delek" and offered butter tea. The family structure is close-knit, and the community shares responsibilities during festivals and times of need. Their cuisine includes tsampa (roasted barley flour), momos, and thukpa (noodle soup).
